Words With Myself
Words With Myself is a solo podcast of quiet confrontation and honest exploration. Each episode is a spoken journal, unscripted, unfiltered, and unafraid to sit in the silence between thoughts. Host Luke Rixson doesn’t offer advice. He reflects aloud. Through themes like identity, ego, fear, stillness, and purpose, he invites listeners to eavesdrop on the kind of conversations most people only have with themselves.
This is not self-help. It’s self-inquiry. A space to slow down, question deeply, and feel fully. Not to fix yourself, but to meet yourself.

We often get stuck playing the roles we believe society expects us to play, our egos latch onto a specific archetype and pretend that we are limited to the confines of a specific role. When we free ourselves of this belief and begin to experience life through both sides, the light and the dark, the divine feminine and divine masculine and bridge the gap between them, we become more centred, grounded and free to enjoy the human experience as it was intended, without these limitations. You don't have to pick heads or tails. You can flow between states as the moment compels or requires you to. Heal your traumas, set yourself free from the expectations of the role and Embrace duality.

Talking to yourself may be the first sign of madness, but talking to yourself with contempt and hatred is absolute insanity. change begins with what you say, both internally and externally. If you want to be a positive person, you will never be one if you only say negative things. If you want to be more confident, you cannot put yourself down and use the same passive speech. Language is powerful and what you say is what becomes your reality, so you better make sure the words you select are reflective of the person you want to be and the life you want to have.

This weeks episode is about embracing change and not letting our personal attachments stand in the way of our own progress, whether that is just our own limiting beliefs or the views of others. Change is the only constant in life and you must allow yourself to change without judgment of your previous self, understand that learning, growing and adapting is part of life and the purpose of existence.

An optimist that always thinks the worst may seem like an oxymoron, but instead it can be an apt description for a form of optimism that I call Mindful empathy. This is the practice of taking the time to consider what someone else might be going through before allowing ourselves to react negatively to a situation, replacing anger and frustration with love and empathy.

There is a thin line between perfectionism and the fear of criticism and failure. At times, I let the fear of how something will be received, prevent me from doing something in the first place. I am currently writing a book, for example, lately, I have been procrastinating and putting off working on it because at the back of my mind, the closer I get to completion, the closer I am to having to confront my fear of failure. This episode is about that fear.
